IFASC INTERNET NANO

Wendy's ASC

Wendy Tribbett

Grand Prize(GP) winner at IFASC Conference last Spring, 2010. She cherishes the Wii complete package "GP."

Up until about 4:00 AM we were looking at a very attractive photo of Wendy. Then we realized we had nothing as our system felt hunger pangs and devoured the photo plus several crucial product components.

Therefore,

South Bend Clinic SurgiCenter, Wendy Tribbett is Director, from an impressive display on their web site, has the honor of filling in for "WT."

  Amerinet

A leading national healthcare group purchasing organization (gpo)

that partners with acute and alternate care providers to reduce costs

and improve quality

For several years, IFASC has maintained an agreement

with Amerinet that benefits our ASC organization with a small

degree of revenue any time that a member ASC does business with

Amerinet. None of this "share back" is of any expense to the member

ASC, so please do keep this thought in mind ( and, Thank-You ).

Note: Bobbie Smith is Amerinet in our state, Indiana.

Vol 1N, Issue #7
04-18-2011
Conference: April 29, 2011

A. Registrations for the April 29th Conference

It's happening in Fishers, Indiana at FORUM Conference

Center, a week from this coming Friday.

An all day event, this IFASC Spring Conf. is one of two

clearly, outstanding educational and interactive gatherings

for anyone from an Indiana ASC.

Mary Anne, IFASC Administrative Secretary who oversees your registrations, reports that the rush began last Friday

afternoon. Calls, emails, and registrations increased.

Her reminder: it is a great idea to be an IFASC member, or

make the move to become one when you register. Because it reduces way-down your cost of registering for anything

IFASC. You can attend Spring for $100, and the Fall

Conference (Sept 30), for a similar low $100.

Please, remember that an IFASC Membership is vital to the organization and to the interests of the statewide ASC community. At our ASCs, each of us has been intently budget watching. We respectfully suggest you process this expense

as less than the reimbursement for one case.

Forms for both the Spring Registration, and an IFASC Membership can be obtained at www.IFASC.com

B. Surveys to the left of us, Surveys to the right...

Stuck in the middle with you...

Well, you are not stuck at all with respect to having someone to ask about the survey process you have gone through or can expect to face real soon.

Have you had yours? Did it go well. Was it good or bad. How were you treated. Do not be shy. Ask a question, pose a concern. Or detail how things could really have been handled better, or perhaps more respectfully, or whatever!

But, in any event, please get some of this stuff written down and sent in (use the form, on the IFASC web site, for questions to the ISDH Director of Acute Care and email, carrier pigeon them or somehow get them to Leslie Ramsey).

Why not just wait and ask-Director-Snyder at the April 29 Spring Conference! Here's the point: if you give him a pre-conference idea of what are the concerns, or if there is something that he would have to research, then he does not have to stand at the podium and say "...that's a good question, I will have my staff look into it and we'll get back to you on this."

NOTE: Snyder is mentioned elsewhere in this NANO #7.

C. The Health and Wellness of our ASCs: lobbying, et al

Money, time, and effort are all expended with regard to our absolute need to watch, influence, and participate in the legislative process. IFASC, and our lobbyists, does this. We do not flag, we do not particularly like, but we certainly can and do not refrain from doing. Your support, as ASCs, especially when you choose your status as member ASCs, is simply everything to us, your IFASC. We humbly and appreciatively, thank you.

V. Are Vendors prepping both bodies and booths?

What are our vendor friends doing right this moment. Sleeping (as we are putting this NANO to bed, 3: am give or take).

But soon, ever since April arrived, wind sprints, yoga, curling, all needed to tone bodies to look good for ASC attendees at the very, fast approaching April 29 Conference-Tradeshow (C-T).

Booths. Already a first coat of fresh paint. Counting brochures, trying the souvenir ink pens. They are good people. They like us. We like them.

Fun on the 29th!

postscript: Dear vendor friends, later in the week some helpful pre-C-T info will be emailed including table (Booth) locations.

postscript #2: take a chance and glance into the dreaded "Ignore this Block..." and see a good change to the Hampton Inn discount rate info.

Randy Randy #2

Randy Snyder, Director of the Division of Acute Care Services, Indiana State Department of Health, during his appearance at IFASC October 1st, 2010 Fall Conference.

Director Snyder will be with us on April 29 for the Spring gathering. Don't miss his presentation. Plan to be there!

Ignore this Block ...

(1) Hampton Inn and Suites, Fishers (317) 913-0300. Closest to FORUM (April 29 Conference/Tradeshow). IFASC has arranged a low rate $89. in an IFASC block of rooms. When you reserve, say you want the "IFASC Block Rate." Our Block is available through Wednesday, April 20.

NOTE:  remaining are 02 king (bedded) rooms, 09 queen/queen rooms. All are non-smoking. Any problem, ask for Lori Sterrett, Events Manager.

NOTE #2: if you already registered saying "FORUM" and getting the discounted $109. rate, call and move into the IFASC block.

(2) Brandi Carlile, the additional pre-Conference raffle prize to be awarded ASC attendees (see below the photo of Autumn Clematis, and some thing else). Here is a link to info about her

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandi_Carlile

(3) Becker's ASC Review is hosting a complimentary (FREE) webinar on Wednesday, April 27, 2:15 - 3:15 EDT entitled: EHR in the  ASC: How to Drive Cost Savings with Point-0f-Care Charting" Go to www.beckersascreview.com. Or better yet, contact Katie Cameron, client relationship specialist for all of Scott's ASC communications: katie@beckersasc.com. By checking in with her you could seek to be certain that we converted correctly the times that were expressed in "CDT" terms.

(4) In addition, Katie makes mention of the "9th Annual Orthopedic, Spine and Pain Management-Driven ASC Conference" June 9-11 in Chicago. This a biggie that we've before noted with linked details. Any specific questions would be good to ask of her if you contact re the above webinar.

(5) Are we all angry birds, or what. At least once prior, in an IFASC publication, we linked to a very red Angry Bird with two back-up lesser size angry bird friends. For those ASC of us who are AB likers, the Angry Bird site: www.rovio.com/index.php?page=angry-birds

Lisbeth Salander is the very capable heroine of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, an enormous, best-selling novel in our country and throughout the world. She. with never a moment to spare, would take one glance at this picture, find the answer, email it to INFO@IFASC.com...

...And, get back to doing the exciting things she does during all three books of the Millennium Trilogy. You can do it too: examine this scene of beauty and identify some thing alive in addition to the Autumn Clematis, the flowering vine

that fills the screen. Hint: it is not another item of flora.

Send us your answer by email. Each person who gets it right will be entered into the drawing that marks the climax of this 1st ever "pre-Conference Raffle Prize," in the FORUM on the 29th.

First drawn will win the 3-volume Millennium Trilogy (go to QUICK LINKS). Whoever's name is second drawn gets Brandi Carlile's CD, "The Story." We featured it in an IFASC Internet Magazine issue during 2010. The title song was used by GM in a Super Bowl commercial, a few months back. Grey's Anatomy, NBC thursdays, has gone to it more than once.
