Dear ASC Owner, Administrator/Director, Medical Director, and Board Members:
You witnessed how hard all of us had to work just to take on one bill: SB33 in 2015 (adjusting the ASC reimbursement for worker’s compensation cases to Medicare levels). It would be great if this were a one-time-thing. But, it's not! Stopping it from seeing the light of day took diligence and focus from us all. Without what you, the Administrators and Directors and physicians did, we could not have prevailed. Through the efforts of our lobbyists, Bill Keown’s KWK Management Group and friends, we identified those legislators we could count on and which ones we could not. If the worker’s comp bill had succeeded, the financial welfare of many ASCs would now be in jeopardy.
When the IFASC monitors legislation and testifies at the State House, we are fighting for all Indiana ASCs. Therefore, we are asking all of our Indiana ASCs to contribute financially to the cause of keeping our ASCs viable now and in the future. We must continue to combat the well-funded and organized influence arrayed against us. And, by so doing, ensure our place at the table when vital issues are being discussed.
Financial contributions to legislators do not prove to a legislator that our cause is righteous, but properly applied PAC assets keeps doors and ears open and receptive. Since its inception, your IFASC PAC has contributed to the campaigns of legislators of both parties who have treated us fairly on our issues. Recipients have openly expressed appreciation and continue to solicit our input on issues of import to ASCs. Conclusively, money to fund and direct contributions helps, big time.
From a standpoint of ASC self-interest, the IFASC PAC is looking to its IFASC members as well as non-member ASCs to contribute at levels the individual facilities, or in the case of non-profits their key personnel, can afford. Suggested contributions would be $1,000 for large facilities and $500 for smaller facilities, or whatever the facility can see fit to contribute. Consider the fact that you are acting to protect the future of your ASC.
Please make this part of your budget each year along with IFASC membership. We sincerely thank you for supporting the IFASC PAC. United we have the clout needed to protect our distinct healthcare model for the delivery of safe and affordable surgical care.
